is contained within the Matthews Community Center which, for the duration of the festival. Much more than just air-conditioning, the Community Center has many great offerings, making it worth your time to come inside!
The Charlotte Woodworkers Association promotes excellence in woodworking through instruction and development of individual skills. Their display in the Community Center includes beautiful furniture, household items, and decor. Come fill out a ballot for your favorites, win a prize, and try woodworking tools yourself!
The Dreamweavers of Matthews introduced the latest element into the festival just a few years ago, and since then, it has almost doubled in size. This new addition showcases the incredible skill and mastery that goes into basket weaving. These works of art are so much more than just another basket. Some have function, some just incredible form, some tell a story, and all are simply incredible to behold. You have to come on in and see this show to believe it!
The Charlotte Woodcarvers joined the festival in 2014, and have brought another wonderful example of intricate woodcarving skill to Matthews Alive. Their display includes incredibly intricate carvings, figurines, characters, animals, trolls, and more! Check them out, and learn more about the annual Charlotte Showcase of Woodcarvings competition!
The festival quilt show is a fan favorite every year! The show is presented by the Sweet Union Quilters Guild of Monroe, NC. The guild meets every third Friday at 7pm, at Monroe Fire Station #4. These amazing artisans provide beautiful examples of this craft, and the festival is fortunate to host them each year.

The Matthews Artist Guild (MAG) offers a judged gallery display of artwork by local artists. The artwork ranges in medium, including watercolor, acrylics, oil, and more. This show has continued to grow over the years and features pieces for sale. There are always some amazing works of art in this show and they were created by folks right here in Matthews!
